San Francisco Symphony

A summer tradition, the acclaimed San Francisco Symphony performs with conductor Edwin Outwater in a performance celebrating the centennial of the National Park Service. Join us for an afternoon truly "in concert with nature."

Edwin Outwater will be participating in an informative pre-concert Artist Talk with Associate Director of Artistic Planning Richard Lonsdorf as moderator. The Artist Talk will take place at Stern Grove’s Trocadero Clubhouse at 12:00 noon on the day of the concert.

About San Francisco Symphony

The San Francisco Symphony returns for its annual summer performance at Stern Grove Festival. Since its inaugural concert in 1938, Stern Grove Festival has partnered with the SFS to offer a world-class performance that many attendants otherwise would not be able to afford. This season, SFS returns for the third year led by Director of Summer Concerts Edwin Outwater for an afternoon of American Landscapes, a nod to the Centennial of the National Parks Service: Three Americana Selections by John Williams, Ferde Grofé’s Grand Canyon Suite, and DvoÅ™ák’s Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Opus 95, “From the New World”.

Conductor Edwin Outwater

Edwin Outwater is Director of Summer Concerts at the San Francisco Symphony, Music Director of Ontario’s Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony (KWS) and regularly guest conducts the Chicago and New World Symphonies. This is Outwater’s third season as Director of Summer Concerts at SFS.
