39th Annual Aspen Filmfest

Aspen Films presents the 39th Annual Aspen Filmfest which will run from September 25 - 30. This the 39th Aspen Filmfest and will be held at the Wheeler Opera House and Isis Theatre. The festival is a non-competitive showcase which features narratives and documentaries. Aspen Filmfest offers viewers the first chance to view the fall independent features and award-winning features from international producers. Along with each feature will be panel discussions and specials guest.

A total of 21 films will be presented this year which include international films. A full list of films can be found here.

The festival will begin with the Opening Reception at the Wheeler Opera House. The general public can attend after 7:30 with the purchase of a ticket. Filmmakers, producers, and industry professionals will all be in attendance discussing their upcoming works.

Attendees can attend three discussion panels which will be held at the Wheeler Opera House. On Wednesday, September 26, Don Hahn will discuss behind the scenes stories that have produced fan favorites such as Beauty and the Beast and the Lion King. Thursday’s panel will focus on bringing literature to the big screen. The last panel will be held on Saturday, September 29 and will focus on the creation of documentaries that focus on individuals pushing the limit in the great outdoors. The Aspen Filmfest will close out with the screening of Beautiful Boy, a Q & A with the director, Felix Van Groeningen, and the presentation of the Independent by Nature Award to this outstanding film. The Independent by Nature Award is given to celebrate outstanding talent found at Aspen Filmfest.

Tickets are priced at $20 for screenings that run from the 26th - 29th and $30 for opening and closing nights. This even is open to the public and tickets can be purchased here.
